Morning shootaround

STOCKTON — Fresno City College has left the gym, vielding the Spanos Center to its quarterfinal opponents.

Before sending his players into motion, Ventura College coach Ned Mircetic calmly called his players to the center of the floor to give a soothing missive to his players.

"They have our school colors here," is the only sentence that is audible from the sidelines.

One good piece of news for VC fans, Pirates star Indira Kaljo played here last year when she was at Utah State.

The Pirates are making the adjustment to the arena setting.

Injured guard Jessi Selleh, who is sitting on the Ventura bench watching the proceedings, once played in an arena at UC Santa Barbara. She said there was an adjustment period.

"At first, but it's a hoop and it's a court," said Selleh, who shot better than 40 percent from 3-point land last season. "It's no different."

Her teammates seem to be making the adjustment well. Pretty much everything the first team of Santizo, Kaljo, Conklin et all throw up is going in.
