From today's Star newspaper:
Bush to visit Reagan Library
By staff reports
October 17, 2005
President Bush is scheduled to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library's Air Force One Pavilion in Simi Valley Friday.
Thoughts?
Invited by officials at the library, President Bush and his wife plan to attend the 11 a.m. ceremony and a 1 p.m. lunch, according to the White House.
The 87,000-square-foot pavilion features the plane that President Ronald Reagan used throughout his years in office. The aircraft was also used by six other presidents, including the current president, who was the last one to fly in the Boeing 707 in 2001.
A total of 600 people are expected to attend the ceremony.
President Bush will arrive in California on Thursday to speak at a Los Angeles fund-raising event that night for the Republican National Committee.
The pavilion opens to the public on Monday.
Thoughts?

2 thoughts: first, the reporter inaccurately claimed that this would be Bush's first visit to the county since 2000. Which made me wonder: how detached from reality does one have to be to forget his other visits?
Second thought is just I wonder how big a demonstration we can work up, and where it will be safe to stand.
Brian,
Bush is good at cutting ribbons, it's spelling contests he sucks at.
I'd stand there with a WIN button... Whip Inflation Now!!!
Scott
Brian,
We've been working on this since we got word last Friday. The rally/protest will start at 10:00am and last for about an hour. Madera will be closed between Country Club and Presidential Drive. The corner of Wood Ranch and Madera seem the likely location right now. We're working with Simi Valley police on best location for safety of protestors (like we did when we protested Rove at the library a few months back). Everyone is invited to attend and exercise your right of free speech and assembly. More details will be posted at www.conejodemocrats.com, as they become available.
When is he acctually cutting the ribbion and what time?
If people are going to be holding signs they should be in big letters and words with three letters or less, that way W can read them. Better yet, if people could draw pictures so he would understand them, letters may confuse him or cause him to go into brain lock. I see that W gave Dobson and the religous right veto power over his supreme court pick. Isn't this what happens in Iran when the Mullahs decide things for the politicians?
Just back from the demonstration; there may still be people there waiting for the motorcade to leave, but most were leaving when I left, around 11:00.
Had the honor of standing with several IVAW members. Do not understand why Bush supporters think it's okay to make obscene gestures at veterans.
I will say that when an anti-Bush demonstration gets thumbs up and peace signs from moms in mini-vans and contractors in trucks, as we did, Bush is in some trouble.
IVAW= Iraq Veterans Against the War
The motorcade went by very quickly, but yes, I was there.
I believe there were about 50 of us, I heard that more were stuck down on Madera, can't tell you about them. A very few neighborhood people showed up I guess in support of the pres, we shared the sidewalk, they had no signs or anything.
Signs?
"Impeachment Is Patriotic"
"How Many Lives Per Gallon"
"Liars"
"Bring the Troops Home Now"
"Patriot For Peace"
And, one of my favorite things, a 4 year old in a superman cape with a Bush pants-on-fire cowboy doll.
Pictures are here. We got awesome press coverage...KCAL, NBC, AP, Extra, National Press Corp, several international press stations, LA Times, VC Star, etc. The party couldn't be happier with us, and called to offer kudos!

Brian,
I saw that another blog said how terrible it was that on your blog people were talking about protesting. I think the Bill of Rights say's something about Freedom of Speech, Assembly and Redress of Grievance's. How sad it would have been if people could not have protested like in some countries. There is nothing more patriotic then celebrating our freedoms. God Bless America!
