So, a conservative congressman authorizes a bill to place the Ten Commandments in court buildings. When asked about a better building to place them in, he can't think of one.
It gets worse/funnier. Steven Colbert then asks him to name the Ten Commandments. The hypocrite then names only three. It should go without saying that if you think the Ten Commandments are vital to keeping our society together you should be able to name a majority of them.
Click on this link and tell me if he broke number three by using God as a political wedge issue when he obviously doesn't really care.

What did Jesus have to say about the Hypocrites???
dennert, you should check out huffingtonpost.com
Brian, The Ten Commandmments are translated and interpreted differently by theologians. Here is the link to the Lutheran catechism of the ELCA, the largest and most liberal of the Lutheran churches in the USA. Note that Wikepedia explains that some churches combine the 9th and 10th Commandments. It says that the Lutheran and Catholic churches seperate these commandments, and that some protestant churches seperate the 1st into 2 parts, which changes the order for 9 and 10 for them. Does someone have a link for an Orthodox Jewish, or an Islamic list of the Ten Commandments?

The 6th and 10th Commandments of the Catholic and Lutheran churches are listed and explained here. These ancient religious laws will be of interest to voters in the Conejo Valley this fall. In the King James version, the Sixth reads "Thou shalt not commit adultery". The 10th Commandment starts with "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife..."
Cathy, thanks for posting. I know there is not one single agreed upon translation, that is why I find it funny that people want to post it all around. Which version shall we pick? The Catholic version?
Did you see the video. It is prety obvious the guy is using God as a weapon in his personal political battles, not a tool to improve the human lot here on Earth.
