Foy Vs Dantona: Finances

| | Comments (36)

There was a great article in The Star today about Peter Foy and Jim Dantona. It discussed Peter Foy's failure to pay judgements against him and Jim Dantona's bankruptcies.

I hadn't heard about the judgements before in regards to Peter Foy but I bet we can expect a mailer from Dantona about them soon. Speaking of which, it mentions a Foy attack piece on Dantona. I haven't seen it, have any of you? If so, please post what it says.

I am not happy that we don't have perfect candidates but the great thing about our system is we get to choose which flaws we accept and which to reject.

Peter Foy in the article calls himself not a hard right candidate but rather a Reagan Republican when discussing his connections to The Council on National Policy. There is more bio information about Peter Foy including living in Australia, his college education, and running a construction company in Northern California. It doesn't mention when he moved to Simi Valley but it does mention his charity work for kids and his energy crisis era non-profit called More Power to You.

I wish The Star would have their reporters write more articles like this one. For comments on the article write the reporter at kwilson@VenturaCountyStar.com

If you click on the article there is a box with links to the audio of their interviews. I haven't listened to them but tell me what you think.

Where is Santa Rosa?

Read the article yesterday and came away with two questions.

First, Are both candidates' personal finance history the number one reason to vote in this race?

Second, what are the education levels of both candidates again?

Education level isn't the most important factor, but it is a factor. You can be successful with or without a college degree, but I'd just like to know.

Looks like Foy may have graduated from high school and Dantona has a degree in Political Science from Cal State Northridge.

Brian,

I decided to research Foy's "More Power to You"

http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/ShowList

Is this guy for real?

Problem with link above. Try this...

http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/list.html

Type in "More Power to You" in corporations search engine.

If I am to understand this Peter Foy has been attacking Jim Dantona for financial problems while hiding from people he owed money to?

He claims he wasn't hiding, but did he ever get back to the guy he stiffed and tell him times are tough but he still plans on paying? Instead he waits about a decade to give someone their money then attacks others for going broke?

That guy has brass ones if you ask me. By the way when did he move to Simi Valley? Why doesn't he go to a church here? Are they all too liberal for him? He doesn't seem connected to Simi Valley much.

Just got Mr Foy's joke mailer today...the one that tries to bamboozle the Voters. Here's the real scoop about Mr Foy's claims, in the same mode he delivers the dirt:

1) Peter Foy is the ONLY candidate that works side-by-side with politicians and friends that refuse to enforce anti-illegal alien laws in the USA and allow employers to hire illegal aliens with little fear of punishment.

2) Peter Foy is the ONLY that identifies himself with and agrees whole heartedly with those politicians that have RAISED income taxes every chance they got, since the late 1970s.

3)Peter Foy believes that there are too many cars on our freeways and streets and they'll need to make room for the 3500 plus daily garbage truck visits to the new, expanded landfill operation in Simi Valley. More, Peter Foy is the only one who doesn't need to take a single dollar from developers because he has those develoeprs help him raise money from other sources. Except, that is, from those develpers that are now calling themselves farm trusts (hahahhahhahahhah!....FARM TRUSTS, what a joke).

4) Peter Foy believes in limiting the power of lobbyists that can help the little guy and the small business so only his wealthy friends at the CNP and his big business associates can have access to county government, just like his colleagues Abramoff, Ney, Delay, Norquist,Weldon and other admitted criminals arrabnged for their colleagues.

Nice try, FoyBoys!

Do people really drop out of college because of the cost with the staggering amount of financial aid out there for students with promise? Obviously education wasn't a path to success for Foy but I wish he wouldn't make excuses and scare off kids from college. If he was payingfor a private college it could be expensive but in the 1970's state schools in California were really cheap.

Does anyone know if Mr Foy supports Prop 90, the "Emminent Domain" bamboozle? For those that are wondering, Prop 90 allows developers that are denied an opportunity to make a profit on their land dues to zoning regulations, community rejection of their projects or any other now lawful reason, the right to bring a cause of action suit against the taxpayers. But THAT's not what it does, you say. It prevents the city from taking my property from me, doesnt it, you ask? No. Cal state already has the most stringent anti government confiscation laws in the country.

What Prop 90 did in Oregon, whose idiot voters passed it cause it sounded so cool and people-friendly, was to immediately launch almost $5B in lawsuits against taxpayers...mostly from developers that were trying to unload marginal property by claiming they weren't allowed to make a profit on it due to government restrictions. Compared to oregon's experience, Cal state and its municipalities may well see over $60B in lawsuits filed the first year after Prop 90's passed. Good thing the Terminator's got all those great connections with the NY banks, cause we may need them to avoid going bankrupt.

So. Anyone know where Mr Foy stands on Prop 90?

Where does Dantona stand?

Let's ask him! Just for the record, I'd be real annoyed if Dantona was for Prop 90!

That was easy! I just emailed them both and should hear back soon....I think. Darn, I love bloggin!

Will Dantona vote to remove health care from domestic partners that work for the county? Can I find out soon in case I need to search for a new job!

I doubt that Jim would support Prop 90. And as far as domestic partners and health insurance, I doubt that he would vote to elimate that. We have it at the City of Simi Valley, and I think most cities have it. However, I do not pretend to speak for Jim so you need to ask him at the debate on 11/2 at City hall

Health Care...I hope you don't think for one minute that if Mr. Foy is elected your supervisor, he would support health care for domestic partners....just take a look at his beliefs....

Do we have actual evidence of Foy's position on this issue? Is there going to be a debate?

Hi Barbra--

I tend to trust the eminent domain law the city passed a few months back rather than soomething put on the state ballot. What are the major differences between prop 90 and what the city council did? If approved what parts of the city's law would be preempted? Thanks.

Jim Dantona and Peter Foy have agreed to a town hall-type of debate, sponsored by the STAR, on November 2.

Wind blown fire storm. Limited access and exit. Too many vehicles and people trying to evacuate. The result is four of our fire fighters are dead. God bless them.

This is what the east end of Simi Valley has been fighting for years...the expectation that sooner or later a similar event will occur in or around Box Canyon or Susana Knolls. During a firestorm these areas have ONE exit and often that one exit is blocked. Still, developers swarm over these hilly, rugged areas looking for parcels to develop, secretly grading hillsides and boot-legging building pads, knowing that violations are routinely ignored and safety has always been the least concern at Victoria Avenue.

Jim Dantona's the ONLY county candidate that has pledged to stop the overcrowding and unsafe over-development in our hills. Other candidates have come to take a look, said they were sorry but an owner has the right to develop his property in any way he sees fit.

Which candidate sounds like he's REALLY interested in public safety?

gs,

Have you really taken a look at all the developers that have contributed to Dantona? Developers, developers consultants, builders and their LA buddies. Not sure where you think Dantona gets his anti-development credientials. Seems he says one thing while taking lots of money and doing another.

Please show me on any of his current filings for Supervisor where Jim has received "lots of money" from developers. Developers have NOT given to Jim because of his stand on "Smart' growth and his working against North Park. However, Mr. Foy has accepted $$$ from Elaine Freeman, a developers consultant, look at the Happy Face project Where Mr. Foy has a hugh sign asking for our support, he had to get permission from the developer to put it there... lets see, there is Ralph Mahan, Gary Seaton, I could go on and on. then there are the farmers, like Mr. Underwood, who is supporting Mr.Foy because according to Mr. Foy himself, he does not believe in ZONING REGULATIONS...now that has to be a developers dream come true!

Voter! You must be mistaking me with a No Growth or Slow Growth person. No. We're different people. I'm for Smart Growth. In fact, when we were trying to negotiate with the Developer of the Knolls Ranch and Supervisor Mikels' office I offered to her assistant that the communty would be willing to accept almost ANY project, including a skyscraper, if it were proven it could be done safely. Apparently it couldn't so the community was given an ultimatum instead.

I don't care that Jim dantona raises money from the friends and supporters he's made throughout his career, including developers. But then Jim has never pedged to NEVER take a dollar from develpers....Mr Foy did. In fact that was Mr Foy's ver first pledge to the Voters and he broke it imemdiately afterwards. Mr Foy has developers raisong money for him. Mr Foy has taken money from developers. I'm sure those develoeprs are good people and there's nothing ilegal or unethical about it. What IS unethical and morally wrong is for Mr Foy to tell the Voters one thing and secretly do the opposite. In a candidate, that's both a political issue and an indication of a lack of character.

I need to make a correction in a previous blog I sent. I said that Mr. Underwood of Underwood Farms in Somis, was supporting Mr. Foy. That in fact is not true, and I apoligize for the error. It is my understanding he is supporting the "other" candidate...

Just popping up to relate some inter-state wisdom.

In 2004, Oregonians approved Measure 37 (looks like your Prop 90) by about 70-30. We were told that it was a property-rights issue, but while it has been beneficial to the few landowners who actually want a subdivision of condos in their backyard, it has been disasterous for those many people who live nearby and have seen their property values plummet. Public support on the measure has now reversed.

I don't recommend supporting Prop 90 or any candidate who thinks it's a bright idea.

But if you do pass it, it'd certainly give us something to laugh about up here...

OREGONIAN,

Stop lieing,

NO ONE IN ORGEAN READS VENTURAS BLOGS

YOUR JUST A DANTONA CRONIE MIXING THE POT.

GET OUT OF HERE

Tim Keaney lives in Texas and he's a regular contributor. So are you saying only RED states can contribute?

also gs Barbra Tony king jr and Loupy....

Nice on the Dantona sign on the red truck..
I saw it up and down LA ave all day.
that thing is huge.

Certainly not a scandal! The Oregon "Prop 90" disaster thing is well known amongst people interested in land use issues (as I am) and I've had occasion to talk or write to several Oregonians about the problems they're having with the new law and how it could affect us in SoCal. No surprise that one of them has tuned in.

So back to Prop 90. Does Mr Foy support this county-busting, taxpayer swindle? Let me guess....no one knows! I've emailed Mr Foy but he wont respond. I'm guessing that's because Mr Foy DOES support having the taxpayers dig deeper into their pockets to come up with the cash to pay off developers that can't sell their marginal properties or that can't now legally develop their prize parcels. What Prop 90 does is guarantee developers a hefty profit without even having to build. Its a taxpayer-funded welfare program for the selfish and CA counties and cities may well start falling over like a long row of bankrupt dominoes if it gets passed.

Praise the Lord. The Phony Farmer is going to save Ventura County with his great management skills learned from years selling insurance. Only thing is, I can't figure out what is wrong with Ventura County that is in such need of fixing.

Mr Foy wants to make our Community a safe place. His solution is to raid County departments in an effort to find money to build more and nicer jail cells. But Mr Foy has nothing to say about the two REALLY important Safety issues here in District 4: the potential for $100M fire losses and the thousands of families affected now and in the future from the mess up at Rocketdyne. In addition, Mr Foy wants to turn our profit-making county hospital over to private hands...a sure way to drive it into bankruptcy and remove it as a local source of acute care for thousands of County residents...mostly kids. WOuld you trust YOUR family's safety to Mr Foy and the FoyBoys?

The Phony Farmer can't talk. The Star continues to quote the Farmers political hack instead of the politician himself. The Susana Knolls has been unrepresented in Ventura County for far too many years. The residents pay taxes and get very limited services and no representation. This small rural community needs wide support from the rest of the District. Development and fire safety issues aren't just Knoll's issues. They are issues for all of us to deal with. The Phony Farmer needs to go down, down, down . . . back under the rock from where he came. Back behind his 20 feet tall locked gates. Back into his Old Testiment. Back to the Taliban. Back to his 10,000 year old planet earth. Back to the days when women were chained to the bed post and kitchen stove and the man went out to hunt for the meat. Back, back, back . . . Knolls residents should be out on our street corners from now until the election. If you think Mikels hated the Knolls residents, you ain't seen nothing yet if the Phony Farmer is elected. This nut is the devil personified.

Loupy, Come Thursday night at City Hall, Mr, Foy won't be able to run from the questions, nor will he be able to have someone answer the questions. He will be on the spot..yipee...
Finally we get to see the real Phony Farmer Foy up front and personal...

I encourage supporters of both sides to come out and bring their digital cameras. If you take a video that you want me to post e-mail me and I will tell you how to do so.

Does anyone know the channel and time? Will it be repeated?

If you have a question come to the debates and get it answered.

Barb, I'll be there and I will bring along a question of my own for the Phony Farmer to address. I too will have my new leather gloves and new levy jacket. Don't mistake me for the Phony Farmer though. I'll be the farmer wearing a Dantona button. Keep an eye on the Phony Farmer's ears. If you see a coiled wire hanging out to the rear of the lobe, I suggest the Phony will be having his answers given to him by a paid hack. If no wire, I'll be looking for a string hanging down the back of his coat and a handler hiding behind the dias pulling the string to make the mouth open and close.

Last night I ran into a group campaigning for Jim Dantona. A young fellow identified himself as Frank, younger brother of Jim. I had known previously that Jim really knew the issues facing the Board of Supervisors, but younger brother Frank really knows the issues. I couldn't ask a question that Frank couldn't answer in a complete and concise manner. Best yet, Frank looked like he spends a lot of time in the gym; well buffed and clearly fit. Too bad Frank doesn't get older brother Jim into the gym now and then. Looks to me like anyone of these Dantonas would make great Supervisors. Too bad we only have one slot in our District.
