In case you haven't heard the House of Representatives is currently run by a cabal of criminals. Leader after Leader has resigned because of corruption. I can't even keep track of all the criminals in the place and the investigations going on.
You would think that this might require some more help investigating official wrong doing.
Instead Jerry Lewis copying a classic move from Richard Nixon has just fired the investigators. Jerry Lewis is the member that took "donations" from lobbyists representing the cities that in a normal democracy he would be representing. In Jerry Lewis's world to talk to your own member of congress you need to hire a lobbyist.
If I ever got a chance to interview Elton Gallegly I would ask his opinion about serving with outright thieves. When he retires I wonder how many stories he will tell about having to work with people like Delay, Abramoff, Cunningham, Ney, Weldon, Pombo, Doolittle, and others.

Lobbyists, PACs, and special interest groups affect both parties equally. One of the main goals of congressmen, besides policy making, is to be reelected, so congressmen are understandably burdened by fundraising for reelection. To expect real change by electing a different representative is foolish, because representatives of both parties accept contributions from special interests. Perhaps the real reason that Democrats are upset with Republican actions is that Republicans are better at practicing sleazy politics.

Ventura, California Nov 04, 2006 Yesterday, an article in the New York Times revealed some news that was shocking to hear.
Despite Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte�s repeated warnings that the content of the documents was unknown and it would be risky to post them.
Despite the warnings from officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency that they feared the information could help states like Iran develop nuclear arms.
Despite earlier warnings from the United Nations arms-control officials �last Spring � that forced the removal of a report that gave information on how to make tabun and sarin (nerve agents that kill by causing respiratory failure)
Despite all of this, President Bush put our country at greater risk by approving the creation of a website that includes documents obtained in Iraq that detail how to make an atomic bomb.
Despite all of this, Congressional Republicans proposed legislation to force the documents� release.
Despite all of this, the House Intelligence Committee led by an overwhelming majority of Republicans including my opponent Elton Gallegly who holds a senior seat on the committee, campaigned to post this website and to release the very documents they were advised-warned-urged against releasing.
Now, sections of the website were recently taken down when they realized what they had posted, but as everyone probably already knows, once something is available on the Internet, anyone can access it. This means Iran can access it. This means other nations working on nuclear programs can access it.
Despite all of this - Elton�s House Intelligence Committee campaigned to post these documents online.
Three days ago the Ventura County Star editorialized that Elton�s position on this committee is a good thing. Is it?
I believe that this is exactly the problem that is facing our nation today. Washington Republicans are controlling our important National Security committees and failing to do their job accurately and effectively.
Why and how did Elton Gallegly not only allow for such dangerous information to be posted on their website, but why did his committee campaign to do so despite the repeated warnings received?
These are questions that we need to ask and his constituents deserve to know the answers to.
I pledge that when elected to congress I will never allow the security of our nation to be threatened by encouraging the release of sensitive information that should have been kept secret.
The act of releasing these documents without knowing everything that was included in them is unethical and irresponsible.

Ventura County, California Nov. 4th, 2006. Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn joins the wave of community leaders and organizations reversing their support of Rep. Elton Gallegly to endorse his opponent, the Democratic Candidate, affordable housing advocate Jill M. Martinez. John Flynn was recently included in a misleading mailer sent to Democrats from the Elton Gallegly campaign. The mailer quoted John Flynn stating his support for Gallegly saying "Elton Gallegly and I have worked together for more than 25 years to make Ventura County a safer and better place to live."
But Ventura County Supervisor John Flynn now endorses Jill M. Martinez.
"I've known Jill for along time. She is a very trustworthy person and she is a leader."

Last week, Ventura City Firefighters reversed their endorsement of Gallegly to endorse Jill M. Martinez. "In the past," said John Duff, president of Firefighters' Local 3431 and a 25-year veteran of the department, "we just followed everyone else and backed Gallegly. Not this time." Duff said that Gallegly hasn't endorsed local public safety issues, including this year's P6, which would provide $2 million to the fire department.
