As I understand it Audra and Tony Strickland have one young baby and another one on the way. Can anyone confirm that?
I ask because some local activists are giving her 600 baby diapers soon. Does that count as a campaign donation or a gift to a public official?
Just kidding guys. Have fun with the press conference.

Women, Mothers, & Grandmothers present 600 baby diapers to Assemblywoman Audra Strickland in ongoing appeal for healthcare reform on behalf of the 16,000 uninsured children and 50,000 uninsured working mothers and families in her district.
When: Wednesday, August 29, 2007
Time: 10:00 – 10:20 am
Where: Front courtyard, Office of Assemblywoman Audra Strickland
2659 Townsgate Road, Ste. 236
Westlake Village, CA 91361
Since June, quality universal healthcare advocates in her district have appealed to Assemblymember Strickland (AD 37) for support on healthcare reform. According to the UCLA Health Policy Center, there are 66,000 uninsured residents in Assembly District 37 represented by Assemblywoman Strickland. Assemblymember Strickland is a member of the Assembly Healthcare Committee and has voted against all significant healthcare legislation including AB 1, SB 32, AB 8 and SB 840.
All healthcare legislation under consideration, including the Governor’s healthcare proposal, are in consensus that all uninsured children should be included in any healthcare bill. A nonpartisan statewide poll found overwhelming support of at least 73% in favor of providing health coverage to children. Nevertheless, Assemblywoman Strickland has not committed her support of AB 1 and SB 32 which would extend health coverage to the remaining one million uninsured children in California.
On doctor’s orders, Assemblymember Strickland who has health insurance is now on maternity leave. Nevertheless she has stated she will remain in consultation with her staff. Healthcare advocates will publicly present baby diapers and a compilation of real-life healthcare horror stories from constituents in her district. Assemblywoman Strickland is asked to submit a public letter to her legislative colleagues urging their vote on one or more of the healthcare bills including AB 1-SB 32, AB 8 and/or SB 840.

Yes, Tony and Audra Stickland are expecting their second child, a boy, I think sometime in October. Audra spoke at a recent Chamber event and I happened to be sandwiched between her and Cameron. I think she has taken a leave of absence, at least that was reported in the Star last week.
Congratulations to the Stricklands on their second child!
Since taxpayers are paying all the costs I feel like this is our baby!
Guessing that Tony might need a few himself now that Dantona has entered the state senate race.
Congratulations, indeed. Tony must be a proud papa.
Dear Stricklands-
Please do not spend my tax paying dollars this year to send a picture of your kids. I spend $700/month on heath insurance for my my family of 5. Your getting paid and receiving benefits...do something!!! Quit wasting our time doing nothing for our county or our state.
Congradulations on your October arrival. May you and your husband raise it in Moorpark and not Sacramento.
Delete this wasted blog space full of dribble. Who cares about them having another child. These two have been eating out of the public trough for far too long. They never do anything for those hard working families who can barely pay for their own health care.
I think it's very sweet that had a baby together. These are two very busy, hard-working people, so obviously, they've got their priorities straight. The rest of you mean-spirited hacks are either jealous, or just plain unhappy!

Pro Voter I think it is funny that you cannot even figure out how to post a blog, you posted the same thing three times, duh! Who is the hack, hack! Does it make you feel warm and fuzzy to know you as a taxpayer are paying all the Strickland's medical bills while 16,000 children in Audra's district have no health insurance at all, 97% of whom are U.S. Citizens?
Happy Day. Just what the earth needed. Another Strickland. He will be on the campaign payroll by his first birthday.
Hey, stealing my name, dude? No, actually, the triple posting was intentional because I knew it would take 3 times to sink into your moronically thick skull. So, according to your logic, it's the taxpayers fault that these folks don't have the brains to get a job that includes health insurance?
That is what's causing the health care crisis. People just don't have the brains to get a job that includes health insurance. That is indeed Strickland's philosophy as well. Let's see if those brainless voters have the sense to keep these two leaches out from the public trough and see if they can get a job. I bet they don't get one that pays what they made in public office. Then again, who ever said the two of them have brains. Yep, Pro Voter, you have it all figured out. What a smart person you are.
Pro Voter-
The choice of career should not be predicated on whether benefits are included. Ask a Dr. about health insurance companies. Its not what I do its the gross exploytive behavior of CEOs making tens of millions of dollars on what, not trying to be socialistic, should be treated as a basic need.
Is some regulation needed?
If you had more coverage, including well baby and physicals, my guess is you could reduce the dependance on ER's. If you could see a Dr. as a player see's a coach you would prevent the need for surgeries on problems detected early. I don't want the goverment to run it but just make sure it is fair.
The only thing pro about provoter is that he is Osborn in disguise and up to the dirty politics practised by the Ventura County Republic Central Committee. Forget about filling dumps with disposal diapers or hauling your diapers to a diaper service. This slug should just lick the new kid's diapers clean and give them back to Strickland on a silver platter.
LOL! Face it pro voter, you posted three times because you kept hitting the mouse, you are like one of those losers who pushes the elevator button over and over thinking the elevator will come more quickly. So according to you and Audra, if a 3 year old was not lucky enough to have parents with healthcare we should say, "Too bad kid, you should have thought of that before you broke your leg". This is why you and all conservatives make me sick!
Eat my shorts, Pro Voter II. You must have some sick fascination with me because you keep using my name and biting on the hook every time I dangle the bait. Keep 'em coming, you big phony!
Pro Voter, I think it is great what you are doing to help the Stricklands, clean the environment and keep those non-biodegradable diapers out of our landfills. Tony must have thought this up. You don't seem smart enough. It is a great concept. All you need is a baby, dirty diapers and an idiot who will keep the diapers clean and recycled. Keep lapping, lap dog. You are one fine specimen of the human race, Pro.
What a bunch of dribble, Dribble.
Pro, that ain't dribble your lickin'. That's the real stuff.
Keep diapers out of the dump. Who said Tony doesn't care about the environment?
Are people around here so petty and hateful that they can't keep a thread announcing a new baby positive and on topic? Didn't your momma tell you if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.
After all, its not like there aren't enough Strickland bashing threads around here. When your personal friends who happen to have health insurance have children, do you attack them for it? Some of you guys seem to endlessly stoop to new lows.
Just say congratulations, or say nothing.
Thanks, Bubba, for your words of wisdom. You're right about the attack mentality on this thread. I think it was inevitable when Brian set it up (and over a little baby, too)? Shame, shame.
Pro Voter,
I post press releases from almost any group that sends them in.
I also mentioned the Stricklands are having another baby as a tie in for what they could do with the diapers given to them in this protest.
The attack mentality comes from people that don't want to discuss the merits or short comings in the reasons for the protest.
I did say congrats to Tony and Audra.
Bubba, you have been around here long enough to know I post press releases from almost all groups in our community.
The group that was protesting by bringing diapers likely had no idea about the new addition to the Strickland family.
I connected the two in an effort to tease the group. Of course they weren't trying to bribe public officials, but it is a funny coincidence isn't it?
But the topic is about health care and young children in addition to sharing the good news of Audra and Tony.
Dolts like Pro Voter and Bubba cannot understand symbolic gestures like giving diapers to represent the 16,000 VC children who have no healthcare even though the tax dollars of their parents are paying for Tony and Audra to have their new child. The point is that the taxpayer should be treated as well as those who live off their tax dollars and work for the taxpayer.
Ah Bubba, aka gopher is out, can't chill in this hot weather? Nothing negative about the new Strickland seems appropriate? Ah shucks, that sucks. But too darn bad. Stricklands are what give politics a bad name to most voters. They take, take and take to enrich themselves. Audry takes family leave? No doubt the once tiger voted against the family leave act. Nope, I have nothing to say kind about the Stricklands. Absolutely nothing.
More dribble from the Dribbler, huh? What's wrong with taking family leave? Millions do it every year in this country and, by law, their employer has to grant them the time off (up to six weeks, I believe)and hold their jobs open for them until they return. Whether they're paid for it or not really depends on what kind of vacation and sick leave program is provided by their employer. Typically, if they have enough hours available in vacation or sick leave to cover it, that's how it's paid. Otherwise, they have to take unpaid leave. So, it's only covered to a certain point, Dribble Baby. I agree, usually the government has more generous leave programs, but, whether it's the public or private sector, they don't have the option of not granting the time off.
When did it become wrong for republicans to have children, or to take family leave, or to have healthcare insurance? It would be political suicide for any conservative to speak out against a mother taking family leave to spend time with her newborn baby. Yet liberals around here think that it is OK to do just that. This just further demonstrates that liberalism in America has evolved into an ideology is petty, mean-spirited and intolerant.
Right on, Bubba. Democrats are so self-righteous and all about representing the underclass and sticking up for people that are oppressed by ruthless corporations (like mothers being prevented from bonding with their babies), yet they don't mind at all using it as a criticism when it works to their benefit. Mean-spirited is right on the money! Don't forget hypocritical too.
That reminds me of Al Gore and the global warming myth. He doesn't mind lecturing to us all about conserving energy and protecting the earth for future generations while he sits comfortably in his enormous mansion and burns five times more kilowatts of electricity annually than the average American family. The hypocrisy just kills me.
Gopher warning. Gopher is out from under rock. Get your traps set. Get your poison down the hole. Warning, gopher is out.
Problem is, Strickland has always been against all these "programs" yet the first one to suck up and take the benefits. Stricklands are two faced phonies, plain and simple.
Let's get the vermin. GOPHER WARNING!
Dribble, you are slowly but surely becoming the next Carroll Dean Williams for wacko, strange postings. Check out his blog if you doubt my word.
You guys are all baby haters. You use a poor, defenseless little newborn to make your political points. How crass is that!
Jill, Bubba, Pro-
Ms. Strickland is the one exploiting her offspring. The legislative information I would like to get is her voting record and anything worthwhile she is doing in the capitol. Instead she choses to spend our dollars on a professional photographer for a sitting with her and her child and then send them to all her constituents. Have a baby that's great, I've got three of my own. But don't you act indignant towards those calling her out for healthcare issues that she has avoided.
Have the baby, love the baby but don't use this one as a prop.
Ahhh, Jill, how sad. Attacking a baby. Get with it Jill baby. The attack is to nuts like you, not the newest Strickland. I do believe you will now become the second gopher. From now on, gopher alert shall be extended to you as well.
So for the record, PV and Bubba think it is wonderful for the elected to have health insurance paid for by the taxpayer, but not okay for the taxpayers child who does not have health insurance to have health insurance at taxpayer expense. This is why the GOP is falling apart, HYPOCRISY!
Hypocrite? Come on Pro Voter=Strickland, the Stricklands are fantastic hypocrites. Always have been. Stricklands take and take and take from every available legal loophole that government has, then they try to take away government services from those most in need. They are a disgrace to the Republic Party.
Surf's up Pro Voter=Stricklans. See you on the waves at 6:00 P.M.
Moondoggie,
Is the rumor true that Tony S was a page for Senator Craig?
Hey Dribble Down the Chin, speaking of nuts, just listen to your anger exploding. You and Carroll Dean Williams should team up - The Nutso Twins!
The Doggie is full of love, Dear Dominique, not anger. The Doggie sleeps under a pyramid and practices Zen. You are confusing my distaste for hyprocrisy with anger. When I speak of "nuts like you", I am sending a not so subliminal message. You need therapy and soon. When I refer to the Stricklands as hyprocrites, I am passing along my suggestion that they should be reborn as productive members of their society and not sponges of the labors of others.
So you see, Jill, the Nutso Twins are really you and the Stricklands.
Surf's up. But no board for you today until you grow up.
Hey Moondoggie, calm down, dude, and get back out on the waves. No one was talking to you. My last message was for "Dribble", but you must be feeling guilty, or something, so you responded.
We stick together and keep an eye out for moles from the Strickland camp. OK, Jill, I'm cool. Surf's up. I'll bring a board along for you.
10-4, Moondoggie, hang ten for me out there, would you?
Will do, my friend. But the offer is open. I'll bring a second board and we can talk politics at sea one of these days.
Hey Jill I just read that the California Republican Party has had an illegal immigrant working as their CFO, even though the guy was supposed to be deported back in 2001, gee, I thought you were anti-illegal immigration?
I am anti-illegal immigrant, and proudly so. Shouldn't everybody be. After all, it's against the law to break into this country, right? The California Republican Party and everyone else (including large American corporations) that knowingly hire illegal immigrants are contributing to the problem. Nancy Pelosi and any other businessperson who hires illegal immigrants to work on their farms or in their vineyards are wrong too. It's as simple as that. Thanks for helping to focus the debate more clearly, "Not Steve Frank".
You know, the funny part about reading all the "quit eating out of the tax trough" is that just a few weeks ago I was sitting in front of Tony. He's a pretty nice guy but he seems a little dumb. Shrug.
