CVUSD

Looks like the Conejo school district will be closing two schools.

Will Mike Dunn and the rest of the board work together or will there be something to get them splitting into factions again?

Who will claim they are standing up for parents first?

School boards should be a non-political area. The total focus should be placed on providing the best education for the students. We had an embarrassing event happen at the Reagan library with a CVUSD school board member. I believe it was her personal political beliefs that caused the problem to arise. I hope the board members personal political beliefs don't become a issue in the future.

Nobody: What do you consider "personal" political beliefs versus general political beliefs?
Are you thinking politics as it concerns constitutional issues in public education as OK? What is not OK?

Publius,
Constitutional law is something all Americans have in common.

Party politics consists of personal opinion. It provides no benefit to the children's education. It should not be used as a forum for special interest groups.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ . . . wake me again when someone decides to talk about practical approaches to educating young people and drop all the phony political ideology and political bashing . . . ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Playing upon parents fears and putting special political interests in front of educating children is one of the problems. It shouldn't take place.

Mark Twain: "In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards."

Does not sound like Twain thought that anyone serving on a school board should ever be allowed to serve in any other political office.
Maybe there ought to be a law.

Spoken like a true Autodidact.

The only Board member in Conejo who needs to be recalled is Mike Dunn! He and his thugs will try and use the school closure issue in November to get two other extremists elected to the CVUSD Board so they can force an extremist agenda down the throats of children. Of course they will fail because people in Conejo are on to Dunn! In terms of closing schools if you have fewer students you should look at down sizing to make sure you have the resources to give every child in the district a top quality education.

I went to kindergarten at University School. It is sad it is closing. We have too many schools. Most families can't afford to live here anymore. The first families to move here worked to hard to make it nice and the home prices are too much now for people with kids.

Recall - worst case is that is happens. People will send their kids to private school, the district will lose money, more school closures, etc. RIght now in Camarillo, the teachers union is having a fit because they aren't being paid enough. If I was a new parent, I wouldn't put up with all the instability. I'd either homeschool or private school.
