CAPC coming to Simi Valley

( Ferial Masry, candidate for State Assembly)

The California Association of Political Centrists ( CAPC ) has scheduled a great event in Simi Valley.

On the agenda are State Assembly candidates, Judicial Candidates, and a redistricting ballot initiative.

I don't remember such a great local event happening outside of the Reagan Library.

If you cannot make it what questions do you want asked of the people on the agenda?

I just heard from Jeffrey Bennett (judicial candidate). He is going to try to be there. He has an event earlier in the evening. Worse case, his campaign manager will be there to answer any questions. Roberto Orellana, his opponent, will be there for sure.

Both Democratic candidates (David Hare and Ferial Masry) for 37th Assembly have RSVP'd in the positive. CAPC has invited them to comment on the redistricting initiative. CAPC has not yet heard from the Strickland campaign office.

I will try my best to make this event. I'd really like to put a face to my posts for all those who read this blog.

In case i don't though, my questions are,

what are the recommendations of the CAPC and all those attending with regards to the budget cuts, most especially to the education segment? with an already bad education system, what do those in charge want to do to accomodate the larger classrooms that will undoubtely result from budget cuts?

feel free to respond in this forum.

Hi Daniel -
Glad you will try to make it to the event.
At this point, CAPC has not made any formal recomendations on the budget. I would not even venture to guess, as our membership has a wide range of registration in Democrats, independents and Republicans. There is serious concern amongst all for the future of our children, the economy and for the quality of life in California.

One of our focuses is election reform, through which we believe we will get better representation in government. This is why the redistricting inititative is such an important topic to showcase, and we are very pleased to have Common Cause come to educate us on that issue.

There probably won't be time to discuss the budget at this event, although certainly you may speak to the candidates present individually.
I look forward to meeting you!
