Since last week when I wrote that Tony Strickland's campaign was getting all of the attention Hannah Beth Jackson's campaign has been really busy in public and not just behind the scenes. There was the education rally, Thousand Oaks Earth Day, and a press release about a consumer protection award. You can click on continue reading to read about the Consumer award.
They also sent a representative to the Simi Valley Democratic club ( Thanks for the link Simi Valley and Moorpark Democrats). That is a busy week! Any word on a Myspace page or Facebook profile?
Thanks for the campaign updates.
UPDATE: This campaign is attracting attention from caltics a California wide political blog.

Press Release
Jackson Receives Consumer Champion Award
The Consumer Federation of California Honors
Hannah-Beth Jackson with 2008 Award
Educator and former Assemblymember for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties Hannah-Beth Jackson was presented today with the Consumer Federation of California's 2008 Consumer Champion Award for outstanding work in educating voters about important state legislative matters affecting the rights of consumers. The award was presented in Sacramento at the Federation's annual legislative reception. Jackson, who served three terms in the Assembly and since then has been teaching college and educating the public on policy issues through the non-profit Speak Out California!, is also a candidate for California State Senate in the 19th District, that includes parts of Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties.
"The award is recognition for your leadership in raising public awareness about consumer rights," said Richard Holober, President of the Federation, in informing Jackson about the award. As a member of the Assembly, Hannah-Beth Jackson authored the toughest financial privacy legislation in the nation as well as bills that increased protections against identity theft, including the Consumer's Financial Privacy Act (AB 203), the Financial Privacy Act of 2002 (SB 773), Identity Theft (SB 168) and Drivers' License: Identity Theft (AB 1474). She is also the author of the Car Buyer's Legal Equality Act (AB 2656), which protects auto buyers from unknowing waiving consumer rights to a dealer. She writes frequently about consumer issues on her website.
"I am truly honored to receive this award. The Consumer Federation has been in the forefront of the effort to protect consumers in this state through the information they provide and their tireless advocacy," said Jackson. "I believe that Government plays an important role in protecting the public, both by reducing unfair costs, and eliminating dangerous practices by unscrupulous businesses. The business community can only benefit by the increased trust that is brought by responsible regulation, and I hope to continue to work with the Consumer Federation of California to develop guidelines in a rapidly changing world, and pass these guidelines into law as the next state senator from the 19th District."
Hannah-Beth Jackson was one of the most prolific and hard-working members of the California Assembly from 1998-2004 during which time she authored over 60 pieces of legislation that passed into law, improving public education, increasing public safety, improving access to health care, protecting the environment as well as protecting the rights of consumers and crime victims. She will be the Democratic Party nominee to replace term-limited State Senator Tom McClintock in an open seat in that runs from Santa Barbara County in the north, down through most of Ventura County and into the City of Santa Clarita in Los Angeles County.

On the far left is Chuck Weiss whispering in HBJ's ear, she is wearing pink. Jill Martinez is wearing black with a coral blouse over it and ML Peterson is to her right. I don't know the others.
Has there been a youtube video of the comments made?
I think it is great that Democrats are coordinating their message between their campaigns but that being said it might be more effective if more Republicans joined the cause.
In an effort to show that Hannah Beth Jackson is bipartisan what is the biggest name endorser or group that traditionally supports Republicans does she have behind her in this campaign?
I am wondering if the VCOE trustees will be an issue in this campaign.
Since nobody has correctly identified all the people in the photo, I'll do it:
From left to right Supervisor Steve Bennett, SD-19 candidate Hannah-Beth Jackson, Ventura High student Julianne Spurlin, Ventura School Board Trustee Mary Haffner, Congressional candidate Jill Martinez, County School Board Trustee ML Peterson and Assemblyman Pedro Nava.
Marie,
Since your blog is called "Making Waves" do you consider yourself an environmentalist that produces "Alternative Energy Solutions?"
