( David Hare, candidate for the Democratic nomination to take on Republican Assembly Member Audra Strickland. To see his website click here. His opponent is Ferial Masry. If you have pictures oft he Street Fair email them to me and I will post them.)

So, how did The Simi Valley Street Fair go? What candidates did you see? Who did you speak to and about what?

What city is holding the next event where candidates can meet the public in an informal setting? Independence day celebrations?

Some more pictures from the David Hare campaign:

What about the Mother's of soldiers who died this year fighting in Iraq? Does anybody do something for them on this day?

That sounds interesting. Tell us what you did for them on this day.

I came up with the idea.

The local Democratic clubs should be selling more signs and stickers for our leading presidential candidates. We have reason to be proud this year.

Look at that weather!! Oh, how I miss California . . .

Were the Republicans out in force?

Owen, are you traveling around or working in DC?

Owen, apparently only some Republicans were out in force. For instance, I dropped off some information on one of the Judicial Candidates - Roberto Orellana at the Republican booth at 8:45 am. Peggy Sadler and John Asbmier told me that no info was going to be handed out on the Judge race because they didn't have anything on Jeff Bennett.

Later that day, a friend asked for information on the judge race from the Republican booth and was told by the man in the booth that Jeff Bennett was the guy to vote for and denied having information on Roberto Orellana. He couldn't even get his name right.

This isn't Elton's booth or Elton's endorsed candidates booth - it is the Republican booth.

Roberto Orellana is a very conservative Republican that has broad support from Republicans, Democratics and Independents. I know him from my children's school.

The Stricklands just endorsed Jeff Bennett, which is ironic because Mr. Bennett was the investigative lawyers on all the Stricklands misdeeds.

Politics does make for strange bedfellows.

Katie,

You said Roberto Orellana is a very conservative Republican? Why would a leader of CPAC support him to be a judge? Why would I support a very conservative person for this vital position? I would normally back a moderate.

I thought with all of your conflicts with the current VCRCC you would support someone that investigated the Stricklands. Is it because he found no wrong doing?

Brian, I think it is clear from the post that I am responding as a Republican and the issue is the Republican booth serving all Republicans - not just Elton or his endorsees.

I put the facts out there - people should vote accordingly. Jeff Bennett is quoted in the Star regarding one of the lawsuits and he was careful NOT to say he found no wrong doing.

I know both candidates.

As I said in my earlier post, politics makes for strange bedfellows.

Don't put words in my mouth.

Katie,

Sorry if I put words in your mouth but I still have a question.

The candidate you support is a very conservative Republican.

Why should liberals or moderates support him? It sounds like he is out of the mainstream of California thought.

Brian, you're not going to get anywhere with Katie. She's on a personal vendetta to oppose anyone the Stricklands or Elton Gallegly support simply because of her deep-seated issues with the Ventura County Republican Central Committee.

If you ask me, she's totally lost perspective regarding any of these races.

Mongo,

What is your opinion on the race to be the next judge?

Who do you support? Why?

If you look at Orellana's website, you will see that he has a lot of bipartisan support, from Democrats and Republicans. He is known in the legal community as a man of integrity who would not be an "activist judge" based on his own personal political or religious beliefs.

Bennett on the other hand, is a puppet of the current local Republican machine. His credentials pale next to Orellana. Word on the street is that the DA's office wants him out of their office because he's a joker and they see this as an opportunity to get rid of him. And then he will owe the Republican machine if he gets elected.

Brian, I support Jeff Bennett because I know him personally and know him to be a man of integrity and conviction. I think Orellana is a good man too, but Jeff will better serve the public on the bench...

Brian, I didn't say I supported one candidate over the other. I know both of them. One as a founder of my children's school, one as an investigative attorney. I know Roberto better and am very impressed with him, his judgements and his integrity.

If one looks at the website, one can tell that Roberto has a lot of bi-partisan support. Jeff is supported by Republicans. One is a civil lawyer that works for county counsel, the other is a criminal lawyer.

My point was that a Republican booth has a narrow candidate agenda. That is wrong - laughably wrong - and it is going to cost the Republicans more in registration numbers.

Mango can run around and flag wave all he wants but it doesn't change the facts.

Kutie, you haven't responded yet to the previous posts by Brian and I, where we call you on the vendetta-like nature of your positions, in relation to your ongoing feud with the VCRCC. This stance clearly colors your opinions and, in fact, invalidates them.

I have to agree with Katie on this one. The Ventura County Republican Central Committee is a joke. they do not present material on all candidates. not only was this the case in the judges race but also for the congressional race. they can endorse whoever they wish, but at least let people know when there is a choice. It's a joke. If you didn't look closely you sure would have thought it was Eltons booth. I'm embarassed to be a Republican in this county with these kind of politics as usual going on.
