The 19th State Senate district is huge. ( Map)

On Hannah-Beth Jackson's website it has a section called "Know the 19th senate district" which reminds me of Steven Colbert's ongoing series called "Better know a district". The seat ( currently held by Tom McClintock R-Many places) that Hannah-Beth Jackson and Tony Strickland are running for is huge. It stretches across from deep into Santa Barbara through most of Ventura County and into Los Angeles County.

I mention this because I received an email from the Democratic Club of Santa Clarita about some upcoming events for Hannah-Beth Jackson in that part of the district. Before I posted them I didn't know for sure if it was an out of the area fundraiser or not because it was emailed to me by a Democratic group from the San Fernando Valley.

This district has a higher population than about 5 states.

For the candidates to communicate with many of these voters across multiple media markets they will need an energized group of supporters, an organized press office that takes advantage of earned media, the ability to make sure a story that helps them spins across several newspapers or forms of media, and last but not least a very large sum of money.

As a citizen of Simi Valley I am excited to see an election that will be generating this amount of light and heat locally.

If you see any event from any of the candidates that I haven't listed please send it in. I post events from the different candidates in many campaigns. If you don't see something from a candidate it is because it isn't being sent in.

Click on continue reading to see the details of the events.

Hey Brian,

Has the Chumash Indian tribe endorsed either candidate yet? Or shown any signs of an endorsement

What about some of the other Indian tribes? Agua Caliente, Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, or Pechanga tribe?

DG,according to the FEC, you donate to the local Republican party. Trust me, you don't want to open up Indian Gaming donations.

Maybe we can talk about the need to support the redistricting initiative.

Daniel,

I don't remember tribes as entities endorsing candidates. Maybe board members or through donations casinos.

If anyone wants to put together some graphics about tribal money and this race thus far I will post it IF it shows both candidates.

I want to know where both candidates stand on issues important to their contributers. That's why I think they should hold several town hall forums together.

Indian Money - most of the money will come from the IECs. I have a link that hopefully will be of benefit as the days roll on. The website hasn't been updated since 6/5/08 which is not a good sign.

I would also like to talk about the Redistricting Initiative. The California Association of Political Centrists is one of the endorsees. Yesterday I heard Tony Strickland say he supports it - hopefully he will also endorse it.

Daniel,

I saw that on your blog you supported Michael Tenenbaum for congress but I didn't see your explanation why. Care to elaborate?

Well Brian,

I had initially endorsed Michael Tenenbaum after meeting him because he was going to be change for the district. It initially seemed like a good plan. It was kind of funny though how people ask for change, but don't really want it. That primary election is a great example. My dad always complains about the career politicians who don't do anything for their constituents and this and that, you get the rant.

Well so i tell my dad, hey vote for this new guy, Michael Tenenbaum. Time to get that career politician Gallegy out of office. Well, even after all his ranting, he still didn't want to vote for Tenebaum and went with Gallegy. Kind of funny I thought. But thats neither here nor there.

So back to the initial reason I endorsed Tenebaum was for the fact that he was someone new. Plain and simple.

I see where the "Mongo Band of Mission Indians" gave $3,000 to the Strickland campaign. Let the good times roll, eh Mongo?
