Medicaid ad

Congress, with approval from the White House, wants to cut the deficit and reduce the expense of healthcare by requiring the poor to pay more for Medicaid; those unable to afford it may be cut from eligibility, which could affect tens of thousands of Americans, a large percentage of them being children, while others may just choose to go without health insurance due to the financial burden.

Heading toward extinction

Yes, there are a lot of labels here, but I needed to show the litany of current scandals. And yes, there are some Democrats involved (such as with Jack Abramoff), but these are overwhelmingly Republican doings, given that this party controls both houses of Congress and the executive branch.

The void in Israel

Even in the unilkely event Ariel Sharon survives his cerebral hemmorhage (this was drawn and posted while he remained on life-support), he will not be able to govern again, leaving a huge gap not only in Israeli government and politics but throughout the entire Mideast peace process as well.

By the way, when you see cartoons in color here: no, they did not run in color in the newspaper. I color occasional cartoons specifically for the web (based on my time, ease of coloring and whether I feel the cartoon might be more compelling in color).

Proposition dumping

If you thought last year produced an overabundance of ballot measures, reports are that there are already something like 50 measures looming over the horizon in 2006.
