Just answer the phone

Most of us spend too much of our time listening to: "All our lines are busy now. We appreciate your call" while waiting for those blessed words: "How can I help you?"
I admit that, sometimes, I scream into the phone, "If you cared about my call you'd talk to me," but no one answers that either.

It seems there should be some payback due us — maybe so much per minute deducted from our bill?

If we could leave our number and let them call us back, it would put the ball in their court, where it belongs. Numbers waiting to be called would have priority over new calls, and lines would not be so overloaded.
