Attack react

As part of our coverage of the London bombing for tomorrow's Page One, we will be looking at a number of local reaction and impact stories. We're talking to folks who travel on our trains and commuter lines; people who might have scheduled trips to London; local security officials; and generally to people who might feel that this is one more nick in our global psyche ... will we ever feel safe again? We're always looking for comments, reactions and angles. Drop a comment on the blog or send me an email at jmoore@VenturaCountyStar.com.

Also for page one tomorrow, we'll cover the passage in Sacramento of the state budget.

And we'll have the profile on Joseph Turner, the head of Save Our State. It was held from this morning's paper.

Off the wire, we're watching the hurricane in Jamaica and the reports of the death of the Egyptian envoy by terrorists in Baghdad.

Hi John,
Speaking as someone who occasionally (meaning once, like 3yrs ago) travels by train, my reaction to the terrorist attacks in London today is that George Dubya Bush is a miserable failure. Maybe the paper could ask people how they feel that we still haven't caught Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban is making a comback, and we're now bogged down in Iraq. I'll feel safer when Dubya is impeached, or his term is finally up. Maybe he can put on the flight suit again and talk tough. That'll make some housewife in Alabama feel safer at least... for a minute.

Hi John - I hope all Americans can now realize we are in a world-wide war. We have more US Mi;itary operating in more counties than we had in WWII. The recent and continuing negatives on Iraq War, etc.are helping the enemy.

If the Roosevelt conduct of WWII would have been critized in 1942, 1943 and even 1944, America would have lost rhe war. We lost more casaulties in 2 hours on Omaha Beach then since 2003 in Iraq.

A primary reason for concern on Iraq War is the major failure of the print and electonic media to inform the public of this world war and the WWII similaries. In fact, ask anyone you know about the key battles and failures of Roosevelt Administration in conducting the war and the lost of Eastern Europe to the Soviets. Do you know?

I hope you will include these comments in your article and thinking.

Please contact me if I can be of help to you and your readers.

John & Shane,
I am a strong advocate of public transportation. With the utilization of mass public transit, many economic as well as ecologic issues can be solved or at least reduce the impact. I use Los Angeles' MTA system for my daily commute. With that said, today, I felt a bit nervous using my normal route. Still, I chose not to drive, I did however, use a different route in order to avoid the busier and more congested Trains and Buses.

Villaraigosa is trying to promote the use of the MTA, and now has an even larger challenge to overcome. I know this is a Ventura County publication, however, many people in Ventura County commute to Los Angeles daily...

forget it. I lost my train of thought...

Willy,
While you're distorting History... let's remember in WWII we actually fought the country that attacked us. We only fought the nazi's & Germany after the DECLARED WAR ON US. Your saying more countries are united and fighting in this 'War on Terror' is just silly. Counting some tiny afrifan country nobody's every heard of, who is an allie giving 'Moral Support' is hardly worth mentioning.
This Iraqi Quagmire is ideological BS. It's been proven now, and in no way pertains to the 'War on Terror' most Americans signed on to after 9/11. Quit trying to make ties where there are no loose ends.

UnPresident Bush sucks, we will leave Iraq a bigger mess than we entered it, and have nothing to show but a lot of profit for Halliburton. THe world, and even America is beginning to turn against this war. It's a U.S. occupation, featuring Great Britian, and Austrailia. And our 2 close allies are trying to pull out. GIve up, go home, impeach Bush, and find Osama Bin Laden. Iraq is not a threat, and never was. Now it's a mess and a haven for terrorist. Thanks, Dubya.. for being such an idiot.

Mr. Moore, feel free to use my info to debunk our friend William Lawson.

Chauncey,
I don't blame you for being nervous today. It's scary that we haven't done anything to defeat terrorism. Our response was to create more terrorist. Brilliant, Bush, brilliant.
