We are continuing to report this morning on the fatal stabbing of a 45-year-old Oxnard woman. A man believed to be her boyfriend has been arrested. Staff writer Adam Foxman (afoxman@vcstar.com) is reporting that story for us today.
We'll also have coverage today of the county Planning Commission meeting where they hear the appeal on approval of Discovery Church to move forward with its project in the Tierra Rejada greenbelt. Staff writer Anna Bakalis (abakalis@vcstar.com) is covering that for us.
It's "bee time" in Ventura County and we are covering all the area spelling bees. We had one in the paper this morning. We'll have results from last night's Ojai bee up online today and in print tomorrow plus coverage of the Port Hueneme bee. The winners of these area competitions go to the county-wide spelling bee and the winner of that gets to go to Washington D.C. for the national competition.
A group of Seabees return home today from their overseas mission and we'll be there when friends and family greet them.
And we are looking into the story about the Obama administration's move to change -- again -- the rules on the H-2A guest worker program. Farm owners oppose the change of rules, preferring those put into place in the Bush administration. We'll be checking on local impact of this change. If you know of any local stories related to the H-2A program, drop me a note at jmoore@vcstar.com.
