It's filing day for the June California primary election. Candidates must have their paperwork filed -- either at county or state offices, depending on the seat -- by 5 p.m. today. The only exception is for seats where the incumbent is not seeking re-election. Then the filing period is extended until next week. In many races, candidate wait until the last moment to drop off their petitions (even though they long ago announced for the seat). So we'll follow the suspense this afternoon.
The show is on. It's the bald eagle show from Santa Rosa Island. Staff writer Zeke Barlow takes a look at the fascinating community that has sprung up around the live videocam that points at the next of bald eagles on the island. And they have something new to watch: two eagle eggs have been laid.
It's men's day at the California Community College State Basketball Tournament being held this weekend at California Lutheran University. No local teams made it to the final eight on the men's side, but our Joe Curley will be there all day, letting you know what's happening.
