Here are some of the stories we are working on today ...

It's a day of "action" (also known as protest) in Ventura County and throughout California (and some other parts of the U.S.) over cuts in education funding. We'll be covering some of the marches and rallies in the county. Look to the website and to our education Twitter feed @vcsschools for the latest.

We have the latest on the Oxnard schools' decision over possible teacher layoffs. The number of "pink slips" went way down after the district was told of additional state funding for next year. We're continuing to follow what's going on in other school districts in the county.

The Moorpark City Council decided Wednesday night not to proceed with the idea of asking residents to approve a half-cent sales tax increase. The council members unanimously said this is not the time to seek a tax hike. We'll be updating that story today.
