What we are working on today (Tuesday, March 16)

Here are some of the stories we are working on today ....

It's a busy day in court ... at least according to the court docket. But all of you who have shown up for jury duty know about the difference between what is scheduled and what actually happens.

But we do have arraignments scheduled today for Jose Ochoa and Gabriel Lopez, accused of the Oxnard massage parlor homicide; Jaime Paredes, accused of last year's shooting death of his wife, and injuring three, in a Simi Valley dental office; and for Brian Martin, Rio School District board member accused of inappropriate sexual behavior with a child.

Also today, the county supervisors are meeting and hearing the latest on their 2010-11 budget. The message: red ink continues.

A ceremony today in Conejo Valley will honor five homeless veterans with military funerals.

I saw a bad accident at the 101 and Telephone Rd. but I don't see an article? Two vehicles flew off the 101 - nothing in the Star?

Hello Susan,
We had a story on our website yesterday afternoon when the accident occurred and then updated with information by about 9 p.m. yesterday (http://www.vcstar.com/news/2010/mar/15/two-people-trapped-after-101-crash-in-ventura/). The story appeared inside the front section of this morning's print edition of The Star with a photo on page A7.
