A new study shows that nearly half of military personnel who return from Iraq and Afghanistan are addicted to smoking. Faced with that, the military is trying to provide some help. Smoking cessation classes are drawing larger crowds at Navy Base Ventura County.

The Thousand Oaks library is seeing several of its funding streams evaporate -- or at least tighten up severely -- and library officials are figuring out ways to save money.

Speaking of saving money, Ventura College is looking at giving up its east campus in Santa Paula and just leasing classrooms instead.

And it's a big day for all you strawberry fans. We begin the countdown to the 27th annual California Strawberry Festival, to be held May 15-16 in Oxnard, with today's unveiling of the annual strawberry poster.
