Bennett endorses Dean

Geoff Dean's campaign announced today that Supervisor Steve Bennett has endorsed Dean's candidacy for Sheriff. That means a majority of the Board of Supervisors -- Bennett, Kathy Long and John Zaragoza -- are all in the Dean camp. Interestingly enough, those are the three supervisors who represent West County districts. The two East County supes -- Peter Foy and Linda Parks -- haven't made endorsements in the sheriff's race. Maybe that's because they're both busy running their own re-election campaigns.

Dean's opponent, Dennis Carpenter, doesn't have as many endorsements from local elected officials. But he has one that might be the biggest of all: current Sheriff Bob Brooks.

For a full list of Dean's endorsements, click here. Carpenter's endorsement page is here.

As the election gets closer, we'll be compiling our own list of each candidate's top supporters. In the meantime, tell us what you think -- do endorsements matter? Does it matter that the current sheriff wants Carpenter in the job, or that the sheriff before him endorsed Dean?

Geoff is racking up endorsements all over the county! Go Geoff Dean!!!

No big surprise here. Steve Bennett's alliance with RINO's is a well known practice. Consider his close association and voting record alignment with Linda Parks. Let's vote a real Republican in as Sheriff. Someone who espouses real Republican values and principles.

Go Dennis Carpenter!!!

Both Geoff Dean and Dennis Carpenter are Republicans. This County has a majority of Democrats, then Republican then at least 18% Decline to States. Geoff Dean believes everyone should get equal protection under the law. I think this is a universal value and principle. Don't turn it into something partisan.

Yeah right, Katie, and Linda Parks is a Republican too. You, as I recall, claim to be a Republican as well and we all know how big of a joke that is.

Are you actually trying to say that Dennis Carpenter believes that Republican citizens should be treated better than Democrat or Decline to State (DTS) citizens? I think you've finally gone off the deep end.

The Sheriff's office is a non-partisan position. Both candidates are Republican. This is about talent, experience and leadership. The only qualified candidate is Geoff Dean. The Sheriff and other Carpenter fans are trying to make this a partisan issue because Dean has support from the entire community not just the ultra conservative.

George - I agree with your sentiments! Go Geoff Dean!!!!

The 2010 midterm elections will be here, and most expect Republicans to create big gains in together chambers of Congress. While prevailing opinion holds the GOP will take on the House of Representatives, usually there are some dissenters among national politicians. The Senate outlook is all the more messy, but it is usually accepted that Republicans encounter a steeper climb for taking back the upper chamber.

Love all the opinions expressed here! How is everyone? Love how everyone expresses whatr they feel :)

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
